Today’s Guest:

Luke & Jamie, plus their Mum, Karen

Over the last few weeks I’ve been speaking to lots of allergy parents, the adults in the allergy journey but today I’m talking to 2 allergy kids. I will be speaking to Luke and Jamie, identical twins but only one of them has a severe allergy. They will be telling me about their allergy journey and top tips for staying allergy safe.

What You’ll Learn:

Luke and Jamie tell me what’s it’s like living with allergies, how it’s just part of their everyday life, “it’s very normal really.” Jamie tells me how he teaches his friends, checks ingredients labels, stays safe at restaurants and how he created the story of Tom’s Secret Agents. His brother Luke tells me what it’s like having a brother with severe allergies to nuts, pectin and other things and he helps keep his brother safe.

I also have a chat with their Mum, Karen. She tells me about Jamie’s journey to diagnosis and her approach to raising her boys. She talks me through how their family educated themselves and how she teaches Luke and Jamie to be allergy aware. We also chat about how Tom’s Secret Agents came about and the Allergy UK hero award.

Here are the questions I ask Luke and Jamie:

  1. What are your names?
  2. How old are you?
  3. Who has allergies? What are they?
  4. What’s it like having a brother with allergies?
  5. What’s it like having allergies?
  6. Who do you keep allergy safe?
  7. How do you teach people about your allergy?
  8. What is “Tom’s Secret Agents” about?
  9. Can you tell me about the Allergy UK Hero award?
  10. Please can you each tell me your 3 top tips for staying allergy safe?
